GUWAHATI: A friendly cricket match was played between the members of the Department of Information and Public Relations, the Government of Assam and the members of the media fraternity of the state.

The friendly match was hosted in fifteen overs format on the cricket ground of the Nehru Stadium located near Guwahati Club in Guwahati. At the end of the play, the members of the media fraternity under the banner of Media Super Kings managed to beat the Jansasanyog team from the Department of Information and Public Relations by a margin of 14 runs.

Batting first, the players of the Media Super Kings managed a total score of 123 runs in the stipulated 15 overs. Opener Kamlesh Barman's half-century was instrumental in putting his team in a commanding position in the match. He scored 56 runs from 38 balls, which includes two sixes and seven boundaries. Biswajit Deka also helped the team in reaching that score. He contributed 32 runs from 20 balls, which included six boundaries. Paplu Deka scored 14 runs while skipper Biswajit Das remained unbeaten at 3 runs.

Majbul Hussain took a whopping five wickets while giving away only 21 runs in his three overs. Fielder Ping Kong Reza Azhari caught a catch from the bat of Paplu Deka of the Media Super Kings off the ball of Jitumani Das of the Janasanyog team.

In reply to the 123 runs of the Media Super Kings, the Janasanyog team managed to score only 109 runs with the loss of five wickets at the end of their stipulated 15 overs. Raju Kalita managed a score of 36 runs, and Jitumani Das and opener Sanjay Kashyap scored 32 and 16 runs respectively. Contributing to the runs for the team, Iftikhar Zaman scored just 1 run off 7 balls.

Himanshu Anupam took two wickets and Navajyoti Gohain took one wicket for the Media Super Kings team while 2 batsmen of the Jansanyog team were run out.

Kamlesh Burman, who scored a half-century for the winning team was awarded the Man of the Match trophy.
