Meghalaya: In a display of a remarkable performance by Meghalaya as they showcased their impressive skill and determination during the opening match of Ranji Trophy plate group against Arunachal Pradesh. The team secured an astonishing innings victory with a margin of 172 runs in Anand, Gujarat on Sunday.

Dippu Ch Sangma, the prominent bowler from Meghalaya, exhibited his skills by taking five wickets in Arunachal's second innings and finishing with figures of 5/54. This exceptional performance earned him his first five-wicket haul in BCCI domestic cricket to add to an already impressive record where he claimed four wickets for just eighteen runs during the first innings tallying a notable nine-wicket score across both of them.

Arunachal Pradesh failed to perform well in their initial innings and only scored 94 runs on Friday, while hosting the match. Meghalaya utilized this situation to their advantage by achieving a strong score of 504/9 declared with Kishan Lyngdoh making a remarkable double century (268 runs) and Ram Gurung contributing significantly with his noteworthy debut score of 132 in first-class cricket.

Although Arunachal Pradesh performed better in the second innings, they were unsuccessful in forcing Meghalaya to bat again. As a result, they endured an innings defeat with one day remaining.

Dippu Sangma was praised by Nababrata Bhattacharjee, President of the Meghalaya Cricket Association for his exceptional performance. He congratulated him on achieving a five-wicket haul and also extended congratulations to Team MCA for their big win.

Dippu Sangma played a crucial role in Meghalaya's triumph by dismantling Arunachal's resistance. His pivotal contribution involved breaking their best partnership of 62 for the third wicket and dismissing Techi Neri, who was also the opposition's highest scorer with 46 runs.

Md Nafees backed up Dippu by taking 2 wickets for only 23 runs, with Ram and Arbin Singh contributing to the cause by capturing a solitary wicket each (1/18 and 1/50 correspondingly).

After coming back home, Meghalaya is now preparing for a crucial match against Hyderabad. The game will take place on January 12 at Polo's MCA Ground. In their first match of the season, Hyderabad won by an impressive innings and 194 runs over Nagaland. They are determined to qualify for elite groups again - making this clash with Meghalaya even more intense as they go head-to-head in the plate group competition this year.
