GUWAHATI: Maharashtra took control over Assam on day II in the Ranji Trophy tie in Pune today. In reply to Assam first innings total 274 Maharashtra scored 307-2 in their first innings and already earned 33 runs first innings lead at stumps. Former team India member Keder Jadhav remained not out on 142 and opener SA Veer (94no) giving him the accompany.

Thereafter Maharashtra took control over the game. Host although lost the first wicket early when opener P H Shah (18) got out on team's total 22 on the bowling of Ranjeet Mali but Veer and N S Shaikha on the second added 73 runs which gave good foundation to Maharashtra for a big innings. Later Keder Jadhav and Veer took the team to a very comfortable Zone adding 212 runs on unbeaten third wicket.

37 years old Jadhav played a terrific knock today and scored his 15th first class century. The batter faced 146 balls to score 142 (no) and there were 14 boundaries and 6 sixes. Veer, however, expanded his innings with a little slow pace and took 274 balls to score unbeaten 94 with the help of six boundaries and two sixes.

Apart from Ranjeet Mali, Mukhtar Hussain was the other bowler on the day who bagged a wicket.
