NEW DELHI: After reaching the three-figure mark against Australia on Day 2 of the first Test against Australia on Friday in Nagpur, Rohit Sharma became the first Indian skipper to register hundreds in all formats.

A lot was on his shoulders going into his first significant test as the Indian captain in the longest format of the game, and the opener has delivered when necessary. Rohit remained steadfast at one end as India was losing wickets at the other end. He scored 56 as the day began, and he easily handled the opposition's bowlers.

Sources claim that Rohit Sharma's batting performance will be key for India in the series, as former coach Ravi Shastri noted. The Mumbai Indians captain currently has nine Test tonnes, 30 ODI tonnes, and four T2I tonnes.

He reached his last Test century against England in 2021 at The Oval, joining Tillakaratne Dilshan (Sri Lanka), Faf du Plessis (South Africa), and Babar Azam (Pakistan) as the fourth skipper to reach the milestone.

The former India captain recorded his sole century in T20Is last year, well after he gave up the command in the shortest format, despite having hundreds in all three of the game's formats.

The two biggest batting superstars in both Indian cricket and the rest of the globe are captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. For even the most devoted fans, choosing one over the other has never been simple. Along with Rohit, Kohli has a different fan following, and the two fan bases frequently clash. However, the entire nation of India rejoices if someone performs well.

No other batter comes close to matching Kohli's consistency throughout the years, who is unquestionably the greatest player in Indian cricket. In spite of this, Rohit has also excelled, and he has batting records that Kohli does not, including hundreds in T20Is and double centuries in ODIs.
