GUWAHATI: Middle order batsman Riyan Parag hit a sparkling century and helped Assam to earn a huge 143 runs victory over Rajasthan in Vijay Hazare Cricket tournament at Jadavpur University Campus in Kolkata on Saturday. In reply to Assam's huge total 271 Rajasthan bowled out 128 runs.

Riyan played a terrific knock in the game. The batsman came into bat when Assam, invited to bat, were 27-2 in 6.4 overs. Thereafter he ruled the ground and punished the bowlers with one after another brilliant shots. The right-handed batsman took just 72 balls to score a century. Riyan faced 84 balls to score 117 in the game and there were 10 boundaries and six over boundaries in his innings. Apart from playing a brilliant knock Riyan also made two half century partnerships with opener Sarupam Purkayastha and Sibsankar Roy, While on the third wicket Riyan and Sarupam (25) added 56 runs Riyan and Sibsankar Roy (27, 4x4) on fourth-wicket partnership produced 53 runs. Apart from Parag, it was Mukhtar Hussain, who made an impact with an unbeaten 43-ball 39 (4X5, 6X1) in lower down the order. Mohit took 3-58 in his 9 over spell.

In the run chase Rajasthan were never in the game and they were once seven down on 102 before bowled out 128. Mrinmoy Dutta and Avinov Choudhury bowled beautifully in the game and picked up three wickets each giving away 34 and 25 runs respectively. Abhijeet Tomar (59) fought a lone battle for Rajasthan.
