AHMEDABAD: Indian star cricketer Virat Kohli managed to create another milestone in his illustrious sporting career during the ongoing test match with Australia. He is now the second-highest international catch-taker in the cricketing nation.
Virat Kohli has also become the second Indian player to grab 300 catches in international cricket in his career. The cricketer’s 300th catch at the first slip dismissed Nathan Lyon of Australia off the ball of Ravichandran Ashwin. This catch also put an end to the first innings of the Australian team in the fourth and final test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar trophy.
Rahul Dravid, the wicketkeeper-batsman and now the head coach of the Indian cricket team leads this chart with a total of 334 international catches to his name. Mohammad Azaharuddin another former captain of the Indian cricket team is the third name on the list with a total of 261 international catches to his name.
The Australian team has won one match, while the Indians have won the first two matches of the series. They had chosen to bat first and managed to put a massive 480 runs on the board before being bowled out on the second day of the match. India is also trying hard to achieve that target at the least possible time and managed a score of 175 for the loss of one wicket during the second session of day 3.
Australia has already reserved its berth for the ICC World Test Championship when they defeated India in the 3rd match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. India must however win this match to do the same. Even a draw in the ongoing match might, which will mean that India wins the tournament, might not be enough to go ahead for the biggest tournament in the long format of the game.
