GUWAHATI: Cricket fans went to the Barshapara Cricket Stadium to see the Indian team play well and the star batsmen of the Indian cricket time fire, and that is exactly what they received as Virat Kohli, hit a massive 113 runs from the 87 balls that he had faced today.

The Sri Lankan captain won the toss and decided to field first, thus putting India batting first. Captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill opened for India and Kasun Rajitha started with the ball for Sri Lanka.

Virat Kohli came on first down after Shubman Gill was out LBW to Shanaka Dasun at a score of 70. He started firing almost immediately with captain Rohit Sharma on the opposite wicket. He maintained his wicket and created partnerships with Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandiya and Axar Patel after the fall of the captain's wicket.

Facing a total of 113 runs from 87 balls, Virat Kohli anchored the Indian innings after the half-centuries of both openers gave India a flying start. His average run rate was 129.89 during this inning. He was able to hit 12 boundaries and one massive six in this 113-run innings. This is his 73rd century in the one-day international format and his 45th continuous hit.

Speaking after the Indian batting innings, Virat Kohli mentioned that he was very happy to bat through the innings in the tempo set by the openers and to put India in a commanding position. When asked about the missed catch by the Sri Lankan wicketkeeper, he said that he definitely had luck on his side today.

"Luck plays an important part in any game and you can do nothing but bow your head and thank God. But it is important to make the best out of such opportunities," mentioned Virat Kohli. On asking about his fitness, the cricketer mentioned that apart from the workout, keeping an eye on the diet is also essential to stay in prime shape, both physically and mentally.

He also mentioned that this will be an excellent opportunity for the Indian bowlers to get used to the conditions. The high score allows them to try and restrict the Sri Lankan team to the minimum possible runs.

Enthusiasts of the game started arriving early at the stadium although the gates were scheduled to open three hours ahead of the match. And almost all had wished to see a massive hit from the batsmen including Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. And that is exactly what happened in the match.
