Birmingham: India's boxing sensation Lovlina Borgohain's campaign at the Commonwealth Games (CWG) came to a dissapointing end after the ace pugilist got knocked out in the boxing quarter-finals on August 3.
Lovlina went down to Wales' Rosie Eccles via a 3-2 split decision in the women's 70kg light middleweight.
Lovlina dominated proceedings in the opening round of the match and won the first round by a comprehensive margin of 4-1.
But, she lost momentum in the next two rounds and her opponent came back strongly and put up a brave fight, throwing punches at the much-fancied opponent.
Earlier on July 30, Lovlina stormed into the quarter-finals by outclassing New Zealand's Ariane Nicholson, 5-0 in the light middleweight 70kg category.
Meanwhile, World champion Nikhat Zareen is assured of a medal in the women's 50kg light flyweight after she cruised past Wales' Helen Jones 5-0 on August 3.
The 26-year-old Nikhat was aggressive from the get-go against Jones at the National Exhibition Centre.
