RIO DE JANEIRO: Rodinei Almeida converted the decisive spot-kick as Flamengo clinched their fourth Copa do Brasil title on Wednesday by beating Corinthians 6-5 on penalties.
Rodinei held his nerve with his team's seventh attempt in the shootout after Mateus Vidal's miss for Corinthians at the Maracana stadium.
Corinthians midfielder Giuliano de Paulo forced the match into penalties with an 82nd-minute strike that canceled out Pedro's opener.
Former Atletico Madrid defender Filipe Luis missed Flamengo's first attempt in the shootout before Fagner frittered away Corinthians' fourth shot.
The first leg of the final between the two teams ended in a goalless draw in Sao Paulo last week.
Flamengo also won the Copa do Brasil in 1990, 2006 and 2013. Agencies
