GUWAHATI: Former footballer Durga Chetry passes away in GMCH

GUWAHATI: Former national level footballer Durga Chetry passed away at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital last night after prolonged illness. He was 49 years old and left behind wife, son and daughter. Chetry, a known figure in local football, represented Meghalaya in junior national and turned up for Assam in Santosh Trophy. He also played for various city based clubs like Gauhati Town club, Jewel Star Club, Young Amateur Club and Dynamo Club in the local league. He was an employee of the office of Principal Accountant General (A&E), Assam. Civil Accounts Sports and Cultural Club condoled the death of Chetry.
