GUWAHATI: A stunning goal from V Vignesh helped India Club of Silchar to beat ASEBSC in a group 'A' encounter of the 68th Bordoloi Trophy at the Judges' Field here today. For 90 minutes of the match both the teams fought hard to leave their mark but finally India Club broke the deadlock in injury time.

ASEBSC fielded a new look team with plenty of youngsters. Lack of experience caused the powermen in proper execution in their attacks. On the other hand India Club, participating in the tournament after a gap of nearly six decades, was a little bit cautions on the early stage of the match but quickly adopt the condition and gave good fight to their opponent.

After the barren first half both the sides tried to open their account in the last 45 minutes of the match but it looked like that their plans were not working and match was heading for a draw. However Vignesh made the damage in ASEBSC camp with a stunning goal. The player was near the middle of the ground when he received the ball and a few seconds were left before the final whistle. So he decided to beat ASEBSC custodian Daoga Bramha with a long range shot and he was successful. Ball went straight into the goal without giving Daoga a chance to react.

In group C, at Ghilakuri in Sipajhar, OIL India FC defeated Bodousa Club 2-0 with forwards Akrang Narzary (14') and Milan Basumatary (29') scored the goals.

In group D, at Taikajhora in Chirang, NorthEast United FC was held for a draw by the United Chirang Duar FC. The game ended 1-1. MD Singh scored the lone goal for Chirang Duar on the 22nd minute and Chiranjib Gogoi levelled for NEUFC in the 60th minute. It was the first occasion when NEUFC are participating in this prestigious championship.

Tomorrow's match: Group A, ITBP will play against India Club (Silchar) at the Judges' Field (Guwahati); Group B, Delhi FC will face Assam Police Blues at Korora; Group C, CISF will play against Nagaland Police at Ghilakuri (Sipajhar); Group D, Shillong Lajong will face Assam Regimental Centre at Taikajhora (Chirang).
