Netherlands, Ecuador play 1-1 draw in FIFA World Cup 2022

DOHA: Netherlands and Ecuador played 1-1 draw in a Group A match at Khalifa International Stadium in the FIFA World Cup 2022 on Friday night.

Netherland's Cody Gakpo scored the quickest goal of the FIFA World Cup 2022 after giving his team a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute. He surpasses the record set by Australia's Craig Goodwin, who scored against France in the ninth minute.

Gakpo also scored his first World Cup goal in Netherlands' opening match against Senegal.

Ecuador scored the equalizer but it is disallowed as the offside flag was up.

Ecuador have come out all guns blazing in the second half. Dutch team was getting beaten for sheer pace.

Finally Ecuador's Enner Valencia put his team in level in the 49th minute.

Veteran Valencia is now the outright top-scorer (three goals) at the Qatar World Cup. Valencia has scored each of Ecuador's last six World Cup goals and he is the first South American man to achieve such feat.
