Gauhati Town Club reach semifinals of Bordoloi Trophy

GUWAHATI: Gauhati Town Club booked a berth in the semifinals of the 67th Bordoloi Trophy Football championship at the Judges Field here today. For semifinal berth GTC needed single point in their last group league match and they collected it by ending the game 2-2 draw against Eleven Star.

Both the sides scored one goal each in either half of the game. Gauhati Town Club took lead in the 18th minutes through KakheviAsumi but Eleven Star equalized through PulungDaimary in the injury time of the first half. In the second half ManeswarMushahary (75) once again put ahead Gauhati Town Club and it looked like that the side would be able to leave the ground collecting full points. However Aminul Islam ensured one point for Eleven Star scoring the last goal of the match in the injury time.

With this draw Gauhati Town club finished group stage with five points and confirmed their berth in the semi final. Eleven Star Club ended their campaign in the competition with one point from three games.

Meanwhile at MorigaonBodousa SC defeated local outfit Morigaon FC 3-0 in their last group league game today. M Moran (56), Rabi Boi (80) and J Gogoi (83) scored for Bodousa in the game.
