Good show by the athletes of Assam continued in the National School Games held in Delhi and Bhopal on Friday. Assam won several medals in various disciplines that included weightlifting, boxing, chess, taekwondo and yogasana.

GUWAHATI: Good show by the athletes of Assam continued in the National School Games held in Delhi and Bhopal on Friday. Assam won several medals in various disciplines that included weightlifting, boxing, chess, taekwondo and yogasana.

In weightlifting Jabin Sultana won gold medal lifting 55kg in snatch and 68kg in clean and jerk. She took part in the 81kg category. Assam won a silver and a bronze medal in weightlifting through Dunkan Seng Turung ( 62kg in snatch and 79kg in clean and jerk) and Chanyka Bora (97 kg in snatch and 126 kg in clean and jerk). Dunkan participated in the 76kg weight category and Chanyka Bora in 102 kg.

In the boxing event Assam collected two bronze medals through Janmani Devi and Rohan Bherihar. Both boxers participated in the 69kg category.

Assam also won a gold and a bronze in the taekwondo event . The gold medal was won by Rahul Phukan in the 51kg category. Dharmesh Bhardwaj bagged the bronze medal participating in the 73kg category.

Two more medals, one gold and one silver, came in the team event of chess which were won by Abinash Gogoi and Karnar P Deka.

The other medal, a silver, came in yogasana through Sumit Dey.
