GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi interacted with the players of the semi-final and final match of 'Governor's Girls Volleyball Mission' in Raj Bhavan today.
The Governor said, "Sports is one such thing that can aid in offering a holistic development of every child. It helps in developing every essential skill that leads to a healthy and happy life. I am happy that these girls have been able to reach this top level of competition."
Mukhi also said "I am happy to meet and interact with all the players of the Governor's Girls Volleyball mission. It's indeed a pleasure to learn that amongst these talented girls, two teams are going to play the final match tomorrow. I wish them all the very best in their future endeavors."
It may be noted that the players had come for the semifinals from eight zones namely Dibrugarh, Nagaon, Hailakandi, Kamrup(M), Sibsagar, Goalpara, Barpeta and Sonitpur. The final match will be played between Sontipur and Barpeta on September 21 at Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor stadium in the city.
Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor SS Meenakshi Sundaram, Director of Sports and Youth Welfare Nibedan Das Patowary, officials of Raj Bhavan and Sports department, coaches and players of the Girls Volleyball Mission were present in the interaction programme.
