SYDNEY: Nepal's star spinner Sandeep Lamichhane, who will play in the Big Bash League (BBL) for Hobart Hurricanes, has revealed that he has tested positive for Covid-19, less than two weeks before the start of the T20 tournament in Australia.

"Hi everyone, greetings to all. It is my sincere duty to tell you all that I have been tested positive for Covid-19. I had some body aches since Wednesday. But my health is improving a little bit now. If all goes well, I will return to the field again. Keep me in your prayers," said Lamichhane on Twitter.

The leg-spinner was also a member of the Delhi Capitals side in the Indian Premier League (IPL) but did not get to play a single match.

Lamichhane, who will miss the first four matches of the BBL, is scheduled to arrive in Australia in the middle of December and will undergo a mandatory two-week quarantine before he is available for Hobart's game against Brisbane Heat at the Gabba on December 27. IANS
