GUWAHATI: Assam Hockey in collaboration with State Level Advisory Committee for Students and Youth Welfare (SLAC) hosted an unveiling event of trophy for the forthcoming Asian Hockey Champions which visited the city on Friday. The event- Pass the ball and Trophy Tour Campaign- took place at the Ganesh Mandir Indoor Stadium campus in the evening.

MP Queen Oja attended the event as the chief guest and also unveiled the coveted trophy for the forthcoming championship which will kick off in Chennai on August 3.

The pass the ball and trophy tour campaign was started in Chennai recently. It would altogether visit eight cities-Delhi Chandigarh, Guwahati, Patna, Bhubaneswar, Ranchi, Bengaluru and Trivandrum- before returning to Chennai. The trophy tour aims to create an electrifying atmosphere for the event and widening the fan base of the Indian team.

Speaking on the occasion Queen Oja said, “This time the Asian Champions Hockey will be held in Chennai. Thanks Hockey India to make me the part of this pass the ball and trophy tour campaign. Best wishes to the Indian hockey team for the forthcoming tournament.

Member Secretary of the SLAC Gitartha Goswami, Director of Sports and Youth Welfare Prodip Timung and social worker Krishnakanta Bora also spoke a few words on this occasion.
