GUWAHATI: COVID-19 put uncertainty on the next edition of the Bordoloi trophy much earlier. Another prestigious soccer tournament of the state-Independence cup-may also postpone this year due to same reason.

Every year Nagaon District Sports Association hosts the Independence Day Cup, one of the oldest soccer competitions of the state, at Nagaon. They even managed to bring some of the top clubs of the country in their recent editions.

However COVID-19 situation is still grim in the State and the organizers of the meet feel that it would be difficult to organize the championship this season.

A discussion in this regard was held in the Annual General Meeting of the Nagaon District Sports Association which was held yesterday. An official of the Nagaon District Sports Association said that most of the members, attended the meeting, are in favour to defer the meet by a year. However final decision will be taken soon.
