Guwahati: The eagerly-awaited Indian Premier League 2020 season will start on September 19 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with the final slated on November 8, IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel told PTI on Friday.
"IPL in all likelihood will start on September 19 (Saturday) and the final will be held on November 8 (Sunday). It is a 51-day window which will suit the franchises as well as the broadcasters and other stakeholders," a senior BCCI official informed.
IPL Chief Brijesh Patel declared the schedule on Friday although the Indian board is yet to get the green signal from the government.
It has been reported that the cash-rich IPL's governing council will meet next week to finalize the schedule.
"The GC will meet shortly but we have finalized the schedule. It will run from September 19 to November 8. We expect government approval to come through. It is a full 51-day IPL," Patel stated.
The tournament was confirmed after ICC postponed the T20 World Cup. Due to ongoing pandemic scenario, the tournament was postponed.
It is to be mentioned after the BCCI Apex council meeting, the United Arab Emirates has emerged as the top contender to host India's training camp -- Ahmedabad and Dharamsala being the other options.
