Lavanish shines in International Open Karate meet

GUWAHATI: Lavanish Phukan, a student of class IX at Crescent Academy Educational Institution, Jorhat, brought laurels to the State as he won two gold medals in two different events- kata and kumite- at the recently concluded International Open Karate Championship 2023 which was held at Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium inMadgaon, Goa. The championship was organized by Wado-Ryu Karate Association of India, Wado-Ryu Karate Renmei of Japan as well as the International Olympic Committee. Lavanish, who was promoted to the category of Black Belt 1st Dan at the event, is currently receiving his training at Vivekanda Martial Arts Academy in Jorhat.
