Rome: Lazio thrashed visiting Cagliari 3-1 in a Serie A contest held at Stadio Olimpico on Saturday, ending a winless skid that lasted five matches in the Italian top league, and seven in all competitions.
Serbian midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic got the Eagles on the scoreboard just 12 minutes into the game. Italian defender Francesco Acerbi doubled the scoring for Lazio 11 minutes later to secure the hosts a 2-0 lead by half-time.
After the break, Bosnian midfielder Senad Lulic was set up by Italian striker Ciro Immobile for the third goal in the 67th minute.
During the stoppage time, Brazilian playmaker Joao Pedro successfully delivered a penalty kick, netting Cagliari's lone goal.
With its eighth win, Lazio provisionally climbed to the fourth spot in the standings, with 28 points. Meanwhile, Cagliari remained in the 13th place with 17 points, pending the remaining match-day 17 duels. IANS
