GUWAHATI: The second edition of the Greater Guwahati Baby Soccer League, to be organized by the Guwahati City FC, will kick off in the city on November 24. The preliminary stage of the competition will be held at the Beltola High School Ground.
Addressing a media gathering during the launch event of the league at the GTC auditorium here today, the Director of Guwahati City FC Siddhartha Sankar Deka said, “More than 400 kids from 4 to 12 years will be the part of the league this season.” He also added that Guwahati City FC is planning to expand Baby League across the state through its football schools.
The operator of the league Kaustab Chakraborty, also present in the function, informed that 40 teams have registered in four age categories and each player will get the chance to play at least 20 matches throughout the league. Among other present in the function were Development officer of AIFF Andrew Suting, the president of Sports Journalists Federation of India Subodh Malla Barua, treasurer of AFA Hiren Gogoi, CEO of Assam Olympic Association Gautam Choudhury, the Secretary of Gauhati Sports Association Dhrubajyoti Kalita and Rahul Pawar- a member from key sponsor of the meet.
