GUWAHATI: It’s an ultra-modern shooting range of international standards and also the best in the country. You don’t need to go anywhere. It is now available in Guwahati courtesy to the 3rd Khelo India Games.
Keeping in mind the ongoing Khelo India Games the shooting range at Kahilipara is renovated and new equipment has also been installed, making the range not only the best in the country but also of the standard of Olympics.
Nearly Rs 11 crore was spent to purchase new equipment for different disciplines which are now being used in the different venues of the 3rd Khelo India and shooting top the chart.
The Chief Executive Officer of 3rd Khelo India Games, Avinash Joshi, admitted while talking to The Sentinel that nearly Rs 6 crore was spent to purchase the new equipment of the shooting range, and all are of international standard. Once the Games are over the state players can use that equipment to improve their level of performance. Joshi also added that there is a plan to start a center of excellence in shooting at the Kahilipara in the coming days.
During a visit at the Kahilipara shooting range today the secretary of the Assam Rifle & Shooting Association, Bhaba Kalita admitted that the range is now the best in the country. “All the new equipment installed at the shooting range recently are of international standard and are on a per with that equipment which will be used in the forthcoming Tokyo Olympics.”
Talking about the specialty of the new equipment an expert of this game said, “All the equipment are very modern and most of them are sensor-based which can read data automatically once the bullet hits the target and also display it on the board immediately.”
