GUWAHATI: Assam Amateur Boxing Association (AABA) felicitated Hemanta Kalita, newly elected Secretary General of Boxing Federation of India (BFI), in a function held at a city hotel here today. The meeting was presided over by the president of Assam Amateur Boxing Association Kalikanta Boro.

Hemanta became the second sports organizer from the State, (first was Kedarnath Mour, Secretary, AIFF) who would hold the post of Secretary General in a National Federation. Recently he was elected as the secretary general of BFI.

Addressing the gathering Kalita today said that now he had to take much bigger responsibility but he would be always available for the boxing fraternity of Assam.

"It's true that now I have to work for the boxers of entire country. But I belong to Assam and will always be available when it comes about the betterment of boxing in the State," said the newly elected secretary general.

The function was also attended by the president of the Sports Journalists Federation of India Subodh Malla Barua, President of the Assam Electronic Media Sports Journalists Association Jayanta Das, vice president of the Assam Olympic Association Anup Choudhury and several others. Many other organizations also felicitated Hemanta in the same function.
