GUWAHATI: Ace athlete Hima Das's last hope to qualify for Tokyo Olympics came to an end as she failed to touch the qualifying timing in the women 200mts during the 60th National Inter State Athletics championship held at Patiala today. Hima finished at fifth position with timing 25.03 sec.

The athlete, popularly known as Dhing Express, was doubtful today in starting line-up in the final of the women 200mts as she sustained a hamstring injury while running the 100m heats on Saturday and was under treatment. She earlier even didn't turn up to run in Women 100mts and 4X100mts Relay finals. Women 4X100mts Relay was held today.

However Hima decided to participate in the 200mts final and she was allotted lane number three this evening. During the hit the athlete missed the qualifying mark for just .08 second. But the Asian Games medals winner today looked no where to her form, perhaps not fully recovered from the injury, and finished at fifth place with 25.03 sec.

It may be mentioned here that qualification mark in women 200 mts for Tokyo Olympics stands at 22.80 seconds. During women 200mts hit Hima, a few days back, ran beautifully and finished the race clocking 22.88 sec which also kept her hope alive.
