AIFC Webinar course will help young coaches: Kamala Kanta Singh

GUWAHATI: AFC license holder coach Kamala Kanta Singh feels the webinar course, conducting by the Association of Indian Football Coaches (AIFC) to train the young coaches across the country during lockdown period, is a good initiative. The young coaches, who participated in the course, would now be able to teach the young players with more confidence than earlier.

The activities of football came to a halt because of lockdown which was imposed to combat COVID-19. However AIFC took the initiative and started this online course to train the young coaches of the country on grassroot level football.

Talking to The Sentinel Kamala, who is associated with the course as an instructor, said, "It's a good initiative from AIFC. Our young coaches would be highly benefitted."

Nearly 3,000 coaches from different parts of the country are participating in the webinar which got under way on April 15 and would be concluded on May 8. Kamala and two other coaches- Gumpe Rime and Thangboi Singto - are part of the instructor's team who are guiding coaches from the Northeast. Around 120 coaches from the region, including 45 from Assam, have joined the course.

Commenting on the initiative of the AIFC Kamala said," It's a good one and would help the coaches across the states. They have learnt several new things and that too sitting at their home."

Highlighting the knowledge that was shared to the young coaches in this webinar Kamala said, "The entire course is divided into eight modules and planned to provide every aspect of football coaching. We have discussed and gave suggestions on different areas like how to identify talent and train them, how to inspire and motivate them, how to improve communication skill between players and coaches, nutrition and injury prevention of the players etc. A few former footballers and coaches also joining us time to time during this video conferencing course and share their experiences."
