ASEBSC Retain GSA Super League Title at Nehru Stadium

GUWAHATI: Assam State Electricity Board Sports Club (ASEBSC) retained the GSA Super Division Soccer League title defeating Sunrise Club by 2-0 in their penultimate round match at the Nehru Stadium here today. The winner scored both the goals in the first half through Jwmbla Brahma and Akrang Narzary.

ASEBSC just needed three points from this game to ensure the title and they did exactly the same. The match was just 15 minutes old when Jwmbla put ahead of his team with a nice goal. Akrang increased the margin in the 30th minute. After the ninth round, ASEBSC collected 22 points and no team now have the chance to topple them from the top of the points table.

It was the fourth consecutive occasion when ASEBSC emerged champion in the Super Division Soccer League and overall it was their 12th League title.

Talking to the media persons just after today’s match, ASEBSC’s coach Ganesh Rai said, “I admit that our beginning was not so good. Actually we had to start our league campaign without match practices and it created little trouble during the early stage. But as the tournament is progressing, my boys developed their game and the team is back on track.”
