Assam Athletics Association (AAA) to host training camp with foreign coach

GUWAHATI: To uplift the standard of the athletics in the State further the Assam Athletics Association (AAA) has decided to take a series of steps in the coming days. These included camp in every district for a specific period and a 45-day training camp for elite athletes of Assam by a top level foreign coach in April-May.

An executive committee meeting of the association was held today at the Assam Olympic Association Conference hall where several decisions related to the upliftment of the game were taken.

The president of the Assam Athletics Association Lakhya Konwar later informed the media that athletics camp will be held in each district of the state between November and December. "We will also organize the Inter Club Athletics championship from October 20 in all districts," said Konwar.

The meeting also decided the tentative dates of the different inter District Athletics meets. Tinsukia will host Junior Inter District Athletics in January and Senior Inter District Athletics Championship will be held in Guwahati in May. The State Javelin Championship will be held at Sivasagar in August.
