GUWAHATI: Assam Badminton Association (ABA) will strictly follow Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) for managing the sporting activities during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The SOP is already prepared by the association.
The sports activities in the state are totally closed for the last several months after government announced lockdown to combat COVID-19. Although shuttlers were returned to court for training in the city last month but second phase of lockdown in Guwahati once again forced them to stay at home.
The secretary of the Assam Badminton Association Omar Rashid informed The Sentinel that association is waiting for the green signal from the government to start the training. The training will start immediately.
Commenting on the Standard Operating Procedure Rashid said, "Actually we have made the SOP one month back when the players started to return into the court after the first phase of lockdown. However we had witnessed another phase of lockdown in Guwahati recently and the training was stopped once again. We will follow the same SOP strictly when training will begin once again."
Highlighting some of the salient features of the SOP Rashid said, "Thermal screening of all players, coaches and staffs are mandatory before the entry into the stadium, each court will be used to play in single format, sanitization of players and coaches hand is mandatory after certain period, wearing of face mask is compulsory before and after the practice session, ban on non essential visitors inside the stadium etc.
