GUWAHATI: Assam registered another comfortable victory and this time against Meghalaya by six wickets in the Vijay Hazare Cricket in Dehradun today.

Chasing 101 runs to win in 50 overs Assam although lost a few quick wickets but Sibsankar Roy and Riyan Parag finally guided the team to victory.

Assam made the worst start in their run chase as both the openers Sarupam Purkayastha and Pallab Das failed to open their account. Assam was once 3-14 when Gokul Sarma too returned scoring just one. But Sibsankar made two crucial partnerships that pushed Meghalaya out from the match. In the fourth wicket, he added 42 runs with Hrishikesh Tamuli (3). Later Sibsankar-Riyan’s unbeaten fifth-wicket partnership produced another 48 runs.

Sibsankar, faced 54 balls, scored 69 (no) with the help of 11 boundaries and one six. Riyan remained not out on 27 (4X3, 6X1).

Earlier Roshan Alam bowled a nice spell to restrict Meghalaya paltry 100 runs. Roshan bowled 8.5 overs in the match and picked up four wickets for 25 runs. Pacer Arup Das (3-15) also came out with some eye-catching performance. Except for Rabi Teja (51no) and Sanjay (12), no other batsmen of Meghalaya were able to score double-figure runs.
