Assam boxer Bhagyabati Kachari settled for silver in the 5th Elite Women's National Boxing Championships that came to an end on Wednesday at the St Joseph's International School in Hisar. Bhagyabati, represented Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) in the meet, lost the final to Saweety in the 75 kg by 5-0.

GUWAHATI: Assam boxer Bhagyabati Kachari settled for silver in the 5th Elite Women's National Boxing Championships that came to an end on Wednesday at the St Joseph's International School in Hisar. Bhagyabati, represented Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) in the meet, lost the final to Saweety in the 75 kg by 5-0.

RSPB successfully defended their team championship title winning 12 medals, including five gold, six silver, and one bronze, and remarkably, the RSPB boxers won medals in every single weight category, making it a performance to remember.

Meanwhile Telangana's Nikhat Zareen also clinched the title in the 52kg category as she defeated Haryana's Minakshi 4-1 in the final. Nikhat was also adjudged the Best Boxer of the Championships award for her brilliant show in the event that would have surely caught the eye of the coaches and the selectors.
