GUWAHATI: A group of 6 players of Assam Chess Club, a unit of city-based Sports promotion NGO Akshayam put up an excellent performance in the Guwahati Chess Championship 2019 held at South Point School October 26 to 28. The players are Yati Agarwal of Class 1 of Royal Global School ( Champion Under 7 Girls ) Abhirup Saikia of Class 3 of Delhi Public School Guwahati (Champion, Under 9 Open ),Harshadeep Deka of Class 1 of Maharishi Vidya Mandir IV Borsojai (Runner Up, Under 7 Open ) Nalinakhya Kashyap of class 5 of Maharishi Vidya Mandir IV Borsojai (3rd Position,Under 13 Open ) Afsheen Afsha Zaman of class 4 of Maria Public School (Runner Up, Under 11 Girls category) and Mridumoloy Das of class 10 of Holy Home Senior Secondary School (3rd Position, Under 17 Open category). All the players are hence selected to represent the Kamrup Metro District team at the All Assam Inter District Chess Championship 2020. A total of 138 players from the city participated in this tournament organized by Guwahati Chess Association and hosted by South Point School Guwahati.
