GUWAHATI: Assam ended its 2019-20 Ranji Trophy campaign with a draw against Tripura at the ACA stadium here today. Chasing 381 runs to win Assam were 180-5 in their second innings when the match came to an end.
Assam, placed in Group ‘C’, collected 15 points from nine matches and finished at 8th place in the 10-team group. Tripura finished one place behind Assam with nine-point.
Tripura started from their overnight score 76-5 in the morning and declared their second innings 166-7. Milind scored a half-century and remained not out on 69. Mura Singh (48) was the other major contributor.
Mukhtar Hussain, 3-69, was the most successful bowler for Assam while Ranjeet Mali (2-46), Mrinmoy Dutta (1-34) and Riyan Parag (1-4) bagged the other wickets.
Assam struggled in the second innings too losing wickets on regular intervals. Rishav Das (21), scored a century in the first innings, were first to go on team’s total 24 and he was quickly followed by captain Gokul Sharma (3). Assam lost three more wickets in the form of Subham Mondal (39), Riyan Parag (43) and Wasiqur Rahman (28). Saahil Jain and Rajjakuddin remained not on 31 and 9 runs respectively when the match came to an end.
