Assam take medal tally to 30 in National Games

GUWAHATI: Assam bagged two more medals in the National Games on Friday and took their medal tally to 30 (5-8-17) on Friday. With these two medals Assam better their performance than the last edition of the Games in Gujarat where they collected 28 medals. Assam won both the medals on Friday in wushu and those were collected by Sunita Limbu and Sunil Chinte. Sunita participated in the women’s 65kg and Sunil in the men’s 75 kg.

Meanwhile, three more medals were confirmed today as the Assam team entered into the semi finals in three events of lawn bowls-women singles, women fours and men’s triple. Nayanmoni Saikia, who earlier won medals in three previous editions of the Games, today entered into the Women’s singles semi final. Tania Choudhury, Bangita Hazarika, Ananys Saikia and Abinita Kakoti qualified in the semi finals in Women’s Four. On the other hand Biswajit Khound, Dipankar Sarma and Putul Sonowal were the three members of the Assam team which stormed into the semi finals in Men’s triple.

In the archery Mukush Boro also moved into the final in men’s recruve singles. In the semi final he defeated an archer from Services.
