KOKRAJHAR: Baarhoongkha AC, Kokrajhar emerged champions in the 23rd Bodoland Martyrs’ Gold Cup Football Championship being played at Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) ground in Kokrajhar.

In the final match today, the Baarhoongkha AC defeated Salbagan FC, Gossaigaon 2-0. Lwitw Basumatary and Sanswrang Basumatary scored the goals in 31st and 84th minutes.

The champion team received Rs 1 lakh along with the champion trophy, which was handed over by BTR executive member for Sports Daobaisa Boro. The Runner-up team received Rs 50,000 along with the trophy which was handed over by MCLA Rajib Brahma. Lahit Narzary of Baarhoongkha AC was declared the best player of the match and get Rs 5000 cash along with the trophy.

Kamatapur Autonomous Council Chairman Hiteswar Barman, Ex BLT Welfare Society chairman Janamohan Muchahary, Kokrajhar SAI Director Pradip Brahma, KDSA officials were among those present.

The championship is organized by Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) in association with Ex BLT Welfare Society in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the Bodoland movement.
