GUWAHATI : Rode on an allround show from Riyan Parag, Bud Cricket Club lifted the first Guwahati Premier League (GPL) title beating 91 Yards Club by 8 wickets in the final held at the Judges Field here on Tuesday night. Riyan, performed consistently with bat and ball in the meet, first picked up 3-33 in the game and later remained not out on 81.
Invited to bat, 91 Yards Club bowled out 154 in 19 overs and Bud Cricket Club, in reply, reached the target in just 14.3 overs. Riyan took only 35 balls to play an unbeaten knock of 81 runs with the help of two boundaries and 10 sixes. He was later adjudged man of the final and also the player of the tournament award.
The joint secretary of BCCI Devajit Saikia, the secretary of the Assam Cricket Association Tridib Konwar, president of the Guwahati Sports Association Pulak Goswami along with several other former players and cricket officials attended the closing ceremony and also distributed the awards.
