Former Table Tennis player passes away

Former international paddler Nandini Barua Sarma passed away in a private hospital in Delhi today. She was 62 and survived by her mother, husband, daughter and son.

GUWAHATI: Former international paddler Nandini Barua Sarma passed away in a private hospital in Delhi today. She was 62 and survived by her mother, husband, daughter and son.

Nandini was ailing for quite some time and was under treatment in Delhi for the past a few months.

In the early 1970's she was the top start in the State table tennis arena and also dominated in the national circuit. Nandini, a former international, was also the part of Assam team which won Padmavati Trophy in 1974. Alongside sports she was also proficient in studies and retired as the Vice Principal from the Dispur College.

Assam Table Tennis Association mourned the death of veteran sportsperson.
