Gauhati Press Club in TOPCEM-ASJA media cricket final

GUWAHATI: Gauhati Press Club (GPC) defeated host Assam Sports Journalists’ Association (ASJA) in a thriller by 6 runs to enter the final of the TOPCEM-ASJA Inter-Media T20 Cricket Championships at the Nehru Stadium, Guwahati on Saturday. The side will face Media Management in the final on Sunday.

Elected to bat, Gauhati Press Club posted 160/5 in 20 overs. Mriganka Jyoti Sarma scored a brilliant 62 off 52 balls with 6 fours and one six. Later on, in the innings captain Binoy Kalita smashed unbeaten 45 runs off just 26 balls with 3 fours and a six. Nayan Deka of ASJA picked up 2 wickets.

In reply, ASJA fell short by 6 runs as they could manage 154/6 in the allotted 20 overs. Tauhid Ali Talukdar played a fighting innings of 67 off 51 balls, laced with 11 fours. Captain Rajdeep Das managed 27 while Kishore Talukdar remained unbeaten on 24.
