GUWAHATI: Top seed Arpan Das of West Bengal is leading the field with 4 points after completion of the fourth round in the 4th Ayodhana International Fide Rating Chess Tournament-2022 being held in Assam Down Town University Auditorium from 3rd July to 8th July 2022 organized by Chess Players' Parent's Forum.
Second seed Ashutosh the Kumar and fourth seed Kishan Kumar both from Bihar, Pradip Bhuyan, Tanisha A R Som and Padma Gogoi all from Assam also scored four points from four rounds and led the field jointly. Nilabhjyoti Barthakur and Rishav Barman both from Assam are in the next position by scoring 3.5 points from the same number of rounds.
In the fourth round, on top board, Arpan Das beat Nihad Islam Hazarika of Assam and Ashutosh Kumar beat Pran Govinda Parashar Kashyap of Assam. Kishan Kumar beat Rituraj Tamuli of Assam and Pradip Bhuyan beat Abinash P Gogoi.
Tanisha A R Som Beat Kamal Deka to be in joint lead. Nilabhjyoti Barthakur beat Chiraranjan Bhuyan and Rishav Barman beat Shahjahan Ali to be in joint second position.
The tournament is being conducted in the swiss league system for 9 rounds. The total prize money for the tournament is Rs 2,00,000 and the winner will get richer by Rs 30,000 while runners-up will get Rs 20,000.
Altogether 140 players including 63 fide-rated players from Bangladesh, Tripura, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Bihar, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam are participating in the tournament.
Fide Arbiter Pranab Kumar Nath is conducting the tournament as Chief Arbiter.
