Guwahati: Priyanuj Bhattacharyya receives cash awards from ATTA

In the function Pijush Hazarika today handed over a cash award of Rs 2 lakh to Priyanuj and also assured him to provide all kinds of help for his training.

Guwahati: Assam Table Tennis Association (ATTA) today felicitated promising paddler Priyanuj Bhattacharyya for his magnificent performance in the recently concluded 83rd Sub Junior National Table Tennis Championship. The young paddler brought laurel for the State by winning the title in boys category.

The felicitation function was held at the AOA Conference Hall in the city and was attended by president of the Assam Table Tennis Association and Water Resources and I&PR Minister Pijush Hazarika along with two legends of the game Monalisa Barua Mehta, Kamalesh Mehta respectively and the secretary of the Assam Olympic Association Lakhya Konwar. In the function Pijush Hazarika today handed over a cash award of Rs 2 lakh to Priyanuj and also assured him to provide all kinds of help for his training. Assam Olympic Association too handed over a cheque of Rs 25,000 to Priyanuj in the same function.

In a brief speech Pijush Hazarika said,"Assam Table Tennis Association is working with a plan to bring back the lost glory of the game. We have decided to provide quality training to our players and as a part of this plan we have invited National team coach Subhajit Saha to train our players. He will supervise a specially designed camp training camp which got under way today. We are also in touch with a Chinese coach and if everything goes as per plan he too will arrive in the city within the next couple of months to train our players."

Monalisa Barua and Kamalesh Mehta also spoke a few words in the function and assured all possible helps to the Assam Table Tennis Association for promoting the game in the State.
