Guwahati storm into semis of 70th Senior Inter District Football Championship

GUWAHATI: Guwahati stormed into the semi final in the Zone 'E' Qualifying round of the 70th Senior Inter District Football Championship beating Bajali 2-1 in the quarters at Kumarikata today. Arjun Mardi scored the first goal for Guwahati in the second minute of the game. Dhiraj Rajbangshi ensured victory in the 62nd minutes.

Guwahati coach Baharul Islam talking to The Sentinel over telephone said that his team played good soccer throughout the match and should win the game much bigger margin unless wasted a few easy opportunities. Altogether 10 teams are taking part in the championship which final is slated for August 29. The champion team from this zone will qualify for the final round. In tomorrow's game host Tamulpur will face Barpeta.
