Guwahati to host FIFA-AFC qualifierGUWAHATI: Indian team will be seen in action in Guwahati once again when they play in the FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup 2027 Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 2. The match will be held on March 26 next year at the Indira Gandhi Athletics Stadium.

India are in Group A of the Asian qualifiers, alongside Qatar, Kuwait, and the winners of the Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 1 fixture between Afghanistan and Mongolia.

The treasurer of the Assam football Association Hiren Gogoi informed The Sentinel that the opposition of India for the second round match is not finalized yet. It could be either Afghanistan or Mongolia.

It may be mentioned here that India will open their campaign with an away fixture in Kuwait on November 16, before hosting reigning AFC Asian Cup champions Qatar at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on November 21.
