GUWAHATI: Assam Handball Association will organize the Indo-Bangladesh Handball Championship from September 12. It will be a four-match series and will be held in four different places. Later the Indian team will also visit Bangladesh to play another four-match series.
Disclosing the news to the media, the president of the Assam Handball Association Amal Narayan Patowary said, it would be the first occasion when a team of Bangladesh would play a four-match handball series in Assam. The visiting side will arrive in the city on September 11 and the first match of the series will be held on September 12 at the Nehru Stadium. On the same day both the teams will play their second match at Morigaon.The remaining two matches will be held at Dimou (Sept 13) and Moriani (Sept 15).
He also added that preparations of the Indian teams are going on at Lakhimpur (Men) and Guwahati (Women) respectively and the squads for the Championships would be announced on September 10.
The joursey of the Indian team for the championship was released today during the media briefing which was also attended by two senior officials of the Assam Olympic Association Murlidhar Choudhury, Bishnuram Nunisha and Hemanta Neog, chairman of the organizing committee.
