GUWAHATI: Two players from Manipur 2nd seed Bhicky Sagolsem and 6th seed Ashwajit Senjam have reached the boys singles semi-finals of the OIL – AITA Super Series Tennis Tournament for boys and girls U-14 at the All Assam Tennis Association Complex, Chachal, today. Bhicky partnering with Ashwajit also has reached the boys doubles final. In the girls U-14 singles, Namrata Das of Assam has reached the semi-finals where she will meet 2nd seed Ananya Bhatia of Gujarat.
RESULTS: Boys U-14 singles (Qtrs): Tamoghna Das (WB) def Mayand Tewary (WB) 2-6, 6-0, 7-6(5).Omar Sumar (MH) def Soham Ghosh (WB) 6-1, 7-6(5). Pari Singh of Maharashtra lifted double crown in the OIL – AITA Super Series Tennis Championship for boys and girls U-14 and 16 years which concluded at the All Assam Tennis Association Complex, Chachal today. In the girls, U-14 singles Pari defeated Bhumika Tripathi, also from Maharashtra, in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. In the girls, U-14 doubles final Pari partnering with Sweta Samanta of West Bengal beat Aarni Yellu and Malishka Kuramu of Telengana by virtue of walkover. In the boys, U-14 singles final Ajay Singh of Haryana caused a major upset by defeating Top seed Aayush P Bhat of Karnataka 6-0, 6-2. In the girls, U-16 doubles final Assam girls Kristi Boro partnering with Shatavisa Ghosh of West Bengal lifted the crown by defeating Saranya Gaware and Hrudaya Shah of Maharashtra in a grueling three-setter 1-6, 7-6 (4), 10 -8.
