GUWAHATI: Young shuttler from Assam Ashmita Chaliha is the most expensive shuttler amongst the newcomers who will make debut in Premier Badminton League (PBL) this season. Ashmita will don the jersey of North Eastern Warriors.

The auction for the fifth season of the PBL took place in New Delhi today. Altogether 154 players were in auction and 71 of them were sold.

Among the promising shuttlers, who will make debut this year, Ashmita became the most expensive. North Eastern Warriors picked her up for Rs 3 lakh. 16-year-old Gayatri Gopichand, another of India’s upcoming stars, went to Chennai Superstarz for Rs 2 lakh.

Meanwhile Hong Kong’s World No. 24 singles exponent Lee Cheuk Yiu will be the most expensive shuttler for North Eastern Warriors this season. He was purchased by the North Eastern Warriors for Rs 50 lakh.
