president of AOA Sarbananda Sonowal announces Assam Youth Olympics-2023 to be held in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH: Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Ayush as well as the president of Assam Olympics Association (AOA) Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday announced that the Assam Youth Olympics - 2023 will be held in Dibrugarh in December.

Addressing media persons during the ongoing Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Assam Olympics Association held at at the Jalan Nagar Outdoor Stadium complex in Dibrugarh, Sonowal said that the second edition of the Assam Youth Olympics will be hosted by Dibrugarh from December 2 to 10 that will witness the participation of over 5,000 athletes from all 31 districts of the state. Sonowal said that the event, organized and conducted by the Assam Olympic Association, under the aegis of Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, Government of Assam, is an attempt to provide a professional platform for the upcoming talent from the grassroot levels to perform and excel for better sporting milestones in the future.

“We want to ensure that more athletes are able to participate in this year’s edition of the Assam Youth Olympics than last year. The maiden edition was held in Guwahati last year which was a huge suceess. Many talents from the state identified during the event shall be honed and trained enabling them for better performance at both national and international sporting events in the future,” Sonowal said.

The General Secretary of Assam Olympics Association, Lakhya Konwar and President of Dibrugarh District Sports Association (DDSA) Dr Debojit Dutta were also present in the press meet.
