GUWAHATI: Radial Club of Nagaon lifted the 1st Assam Premier Club Championship Cricket title beating Gauhati Town club by 72 runs in the final held at the ACA stadium, Guwahati today. Electing to bat, Radial Club scored 173 in 50 overs losing all ten wickets. Gauhati Town Club, chasing revised target of 149 in 43 overs because of rain, were bowled out 76 runs in 23.4 overs.
Radial Club didn’t look so much comfortable against GTC’s attack when they started their batting and lost wicket on regular intervals. However two good knocks from Amit Sinha and Debajit Baruah helped the visitors to put fighting total on the board. Amit, top scorer in the match, scored 49 from 87 balls and he hit two boundaries and one six. Debajit took 93 balls to score 40 with the help of six boundaries. Asif Wasim (21) and Bitap Mahanta (19) were the other notable contributors. Among the bowlers of GTC Amit Boro and Bikash Chetry picked up three wickets each giving away identical 29 runs.
GTC made poor start in their reply and once they were reduced to 3-12 from where they didn’t able to recover. Only Sahil Jain (20) and Erik Roy (13) were the two batsmen in the team who scored double-figure runs in the match. Mrinmoy Dutta (5-31) and Chanakya Sharma (3-20) picked up most of the wickets that GTC lost in the game.
Champion Radial Club received cash award of Rs 20 lakh while the runners up Gauhati Town club was richer by Rs 10 lakh. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal was the Chief Guest in the closing function and he also distributed the awards.

Player of the tournament: Yasir Ali (Cricket Club of Dibrugarh). Promising player: Bedanta Rajkhowa (Nambor Club). Best fielder: Sekherjyoti Barman (Radial Club). Best Wicketkeeper: Erik Roy (Gauhati Town Club). Best batsman of the final: Amit Sinha (Radial Club). Best bowler of the final: Mrinmoy Dutta. Man of the final: Chanakya Sarma (Radial Club) .
