GUWAHATI: Rode on a captain’s knock from Amandeep Khare, Chhattisgarh scored 249-5 in their first innings on day I in the Ranji Trophy tie against Assam at Raipur today. Amandeep (116) scored hundred before got out on the bowling of Mrinmoy Dutta.

The beginning was not so good for the host as they were down to 3-52 in 28.1 overs after being invited to bat first. Mukhtar Hussain gave first wicket to Assam, removing opener Rishabh Tiwari (6). Other opener Eknath (18) followed him giving his wicket to Rahul Singh when the score was 35. Then Akash Sengupta came into the scene and he picked up the wicket of Sanjeet Desai (10).

Amandeep came into the ground after the departure of Sanjeet Desai and Chhattisgarh started to return into the match steadily. Amandeep on the fourth wicket partnership with Ashutosh Singh (58) added 100 runs and later added another 97 runs with Shashank Singh (29 no) on the fifth-wicket.

Amandeep faced 218 balls to score 116 and there were 12 boundaries and three sixes in his innings. Ashutosh, departed giving a catch to wicket keeper Ghadigaonkar on the bowling of debutant Kunal Sarma, took 152 balls to score 58 with the help of 10 boundaries.
