GUWAHATI: The annual Basic Rock Climbing Training Course of Assam Mountaineering Association was held in the city yesterday. 92 trainees took part in the course which was held at the Rohini Kumar Bhuyan Memorial Rock Field. Assam Mountaineering Association will organize similar training course in the city on every Sunday of this month. During the course of training the basic knowledge including the theoretical and practical techniques of mountaineering and rock climbing will be provided to the trainees. In future selected trainees from the course will be taken for high altitude trekking to the great Himalayas. The inaugural function of the course was attended by noted journalist Ravi Shankar Ravi and Jayanta Das along with pioneer mountaineer of the association Rajendra Prasad Gautam, Birendra Kr. Das, Abanita Barua Bhuyan, president of the Assam Mountaineering Association Kishore Kr. Barua and advisor Satyen Sharma.
