GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi flagged off a mass jogging program christened ‘Bharat Jago Doud’, ‘Run for Nation’ to commemorate the 127th anniversary of Swami Vivekanda’s Chicago speech at SAI Complex, here this morning. The event was organized by Kreeda Bharati.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that Swami Vivekananda represented Hinduism at the Parliament of World’s Religion at Chicago on this day and projected the Hinduism with awe. He also said that the upcoming generations of across the globe should be acquainted with the ideals and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda in order to shape a strong character and cultivate enormous love for the nation.
Prof. Jagdish Mukhi also said that Sport not just heals or upgrades the physical life of any human being it has also impact on mental wellbeing of the people. Sports activities encourage healthy competition among the members of the young fraternity of the country and foster strong confidence and spirit among the youth. He also said that everyone should prepare themselves in any form of sport to keep themselves healthy physically and mentally.
SAI Regional Director Dr. Subhash Basumutary, Atmashuddhananda of Rama Krishna Mission, Tayabun Nisha, the veteran athlete who represented India in 1982 Asian Games, president Kreeda Bharati Amal Deka along with a host of other dignitaries were present during the flagging off ceremony. (IANS)
